Get a jump-start on Halloween this year by visiting a state park near you! Many parks are offering holiday-themed festivities all month long for you and your friends and family to enjoy. From trick-or-treating and spooky science to costumed dog walks and thrilling hikes, there are great Halloween-themed events for everyone.


Austin Area

Zombie Apocalypse Hike at Buescher (Oct. 22) - If the zombies came tomorrow, would you be prepared? Learn what you can do to survive in the Lost Pines when the time comes.

Halloweenfest at Lockhart (Oct. 29) - Don your costume and come on down to Lockhart State Park to enjoy Halloween-themed crafts, “spooky” storytime, and more!

Trunk or Treat at Fort Richardson (Oct. 22) - Walk the park and get lots of goodies to eat. Stroll the historic grounds at dark looking for ghosts, goblins, and the dearly departed.

Spooky Spiders at Eisenhower (Oct. 28) - Come learn about the park's eight-legged, creepy-crawlies and make a spooky spider craft just in time for Halloween!

Nature Costume Hike at Cooper Lake (Oct. 29) - What is your favorite part of nature? Build a costume then take a hike with a park ranger to see who scares "who - who - who" first!

Haunted Hike at Martin Dies, Jr. (Oct. 29) - Join a fun family Halloween event, including a short guided spooky hike through the forest, fun outdoor games and activities, and a costume contest.

Halloween in the Park at Sheldon Lake (Oct. 15) - Experience the park after dark and join us for games, crafts, the Spooky Trail, live animals, and more!

Halloween in the Park at Lake Livingston (Oct. 29) – Enjoy a full day of fun in the park with a family pumpkin carving contest, trick-or-treating, mini-pumpkin decorating, and campfire ghost stories.
