Summer is for Fishing! Caleb Harris
June is a great time to be a part of Texas Parks and
Wildlife Angler Education programs.
School is out, kids are in day camps and week camps and city programs
are ramped up. All of those and other
programs often utilize TPWD fishing curriculum to introduce families to the
enjoyment of the outdoors through an understanding of aquatic resources. Here are some ways to be involved:
- The first Saturday in June is always free
fishing day, one Saturday day a year when the license requirement to fish in
public waters is suspended. This is a
great time to get your community out fishing or your family or participate in
one of the numerous events happening that day all across the state.
-
If you want to host and lead a fishing event,
consider attending an upcoming Angler Education Instructor Training workshop –
listed on our calendar of events too. http://tpwd.texas.gov/calendar/fishing-angler-education-instructor-training
-
In several locations TPWD hosts Go Fish – Learn
To Fish programs. These family friendly
learn to fish programs are a great way to introduce youth and families to
fishing in a easy and fun way. http://tpwd.texas.gov/calendar/go-fish
- Participate or volunteer in one of the many
fishing programs coming up in June all across the state. Programs that partner with TPWD will be
listed on our event calendar or our volunteer website.
If you don’t catch us in June keep looking for future angler
education training workshops and events or contact your regional training
specialist. http://tpwd.texas.gov/education/contact-us
