 Spring turkey season is here! A youth-only weekend for Rio Grande turkey kicked off the season in the South Zone, March 12-13. Youth-only weekend for Rio Grande turkey in the North Zone is March 26-27. Both zones have a second youth-only weekend in May.
Rio Grande turkey general season:
- South Zone: March 19 – May 1
- North Zone: April 2 – May 15
- Special 1 turkey bag limit (10 counties) April 1 – April 30
Eastern turkey general season is April 15 – May 14 in 15 East Texas counties.

Things to remember:
- You’ll need a hunting license and Upland Game Bird Endorsement.
- Every hunter born on or after 9/2/71 must complete Hunter Education and carry proof while hunting – keep the proof in your pocket!
- Physical check stations for Eastern turkey have been replaced by two easy reporting options – on the website or through the free My Texas Hunt Harvest app.
