Fall Events in Parks

No matter who you are, what you like to do or where you live in Texas — you’ll find something wonderful going on at a Texas State Park this fall. From haunted hikes and pumpkin carving contests to autumn festivals, here are some great fall events happening across the state. Austin Area

Halloween Cave Tour at Kickapoo Cavern (Oct. 30 and 31) – Ride through our haunted cedar forest before being taken into the depths of Kickapoo Cavern by experienced guides. Ages 5+

Creatures of the Night at Inks Lake (Oct. 31) – Inks Lake is offering families a fun and safe spot to trick or treat. Creatures of the night will be hiding around the park with candy and spooky stories.

Boo in the Park at Lake Tawakoni (Oct. 24) - Celebrate Halloween early with trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and if you're staying overnight, join in the campsite decoration contest.

Zombie Apocalypse Hike at Eisenhower (Oct. 16, 23 and 30) - Do you have what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse? Test your wilderness survival skills on this fun and informative hike

Halloween Fest / Pumpkin Carving Contest at Wyler Aerial Tramway (Oct. 31) – Show off your pumpkin carving skills and creative Halloween costumes.

Haunted Hike at Martin Dies (Oct. 24) – Celebrate Halloween outdoors with a scary hike through the haunted forest, fun games and activities, roasting hot dogs over the campfire and a costume contest.

Plant-a-thon at Sheldon Lake (Nov. 14) – Join us for the annual prairie planting! Nature lovers can get their hands dirty while helping restore this rare coastal prairie right outside Houston.

9th annual Spooky Science Fest at Estero Llano Grande (Oct. 24) – Turn back time to the Jurassic! Kids of all ages can enjoy a dynamic dinosaur program, costume contests, food, a DinoMaze, hayrides, fishing, archery and more.

Fall Hawk Watch at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley (Every day in October)  Join Bentsen State Park Naturalists as they spot and count thousands of migrating raptors during the annual Hawk Watch. This South Texas park offers some of the best chances to watch birds and other wildlife.
