Following the successful conclusion of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, METRO will transition from its event service plan and return to regular service beginning Sunday, July 12.
Throughout the tournament, METRO expanded rail and bus service to accommodate the anticipated increase in ridership associated with one of the largest events in the region's history. As planned, METRO will transition from its event operating plan back to the regular service approved by the METRO Board earlier this year.
METRO routinely adjusts service to meet customer demand during major events and throughout the year, ensuring resources are deployed where they provide the greatest benefit to customers. This approach reflects the agency's commitment to providing safe, reliable transit while responsibly managing public resources.
"The FIFA World Cup showcased the strength of our region and the dedication of everyone who helped move hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors safely throughout the tournament," said METRO Interim President and CEO Tom Jasien. "We're incredibly proud of our employees and partners whose commitment made this operation a success. As we return to regular service, METRO remains focused on delivering safe, reliable transit while responsibly managing our resources to best serve our customers every day."
Customers are encouraged to check schedules before traveling beginning Sunday, July 12. Updated routes and schedules are available at RideMETRO.org.
