METRO will reopen the I-69 / Hwy. 59 South (Southwest Freeway) HOV/HOT lane entrance and exit ramps at Westpark on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 5 a.m., in time for Houston’s expected surge in FIFA World Cup traffic next month.
The ramps were closed for several years during construction associated with the Texas Department of Transportation’s I-610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway Interchange Project, which includes major improvements along both corridors to improve safety, mobility and congestion.
The reopening restores a key access point for commuters, buses and carpoolers traveling through one of Houston’s busiest freeway corridors, helping improve travel reliability and reduce delays along the Southwest Freeway.
The ramps will operate daily from 5 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 8 p.m. Drivers can access the lane from the West Loop 610 northbound frontage road at Westpark Drive.
“Bringing these ramps back into service restores an important connection for customers traveling through southwest Houston,” said METRO Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock. “This connection will help accommodate higher travel demand and improve movement through the corridor.”
