Release Date: April 7, 2026 Media Hot Line: 713-739-4040
METRO will interrupt rail service on the Red Line from Thursday, April 9, through Sunday, April 12, to perform essential maintenance that can only be done when trains are not operating.
Maintenance is a key component of the METRONow plan, helping to keep rail service in good repair, enhance reliability, and minimize future disruptions. Service interruptions provide crews with safe access to tracks and equipment to carry out these essential repairs.
To accommodate riders, frequent shuttle buses will operate every 10 minutes between Downtown Transit Center Station and Fannin South Transit Center Station. View shuttle map.
During the closure, crews will replace worn sections of rail, perform rail tamping to maintain proper alignment, install new cables, continue work on escalators and elevators at the Texas Medical Center Transit Center, and complete other essential maintenance on this portion of the Red Line.
