 Today, METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran, METRO Board Member Christopher Hollins, and METRO President & CEO Tom Lambert joined Waltrip High School educators, students, and the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon-cutting of METRO's second student-designed bus shelter this month.
The bus shelter on 34th Street, between Ella Boulevard and Oak Forest Drive, features the school's bold red, gray, and white colors, a ram mascot, and highlights various Waltrip programs.

"I hope that every time a Waltrip Ram sees this bus shelter, they will be reminded that major accomplishments are often easier than we think," said METRO Board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran.
Waltrip sophomore Veronica Fonseca who designed the shelter said she wanted to create something that embodied her school's spirit.

"We chose the bucking ram to symbolize strength and pride in our school," said Fonseca. "It was also important for me to feature clubs, programs, and organizations often overshadowed by mainstream interests."
Waltrip Principal Rhonda Honore said the collaboration is a win-win for everyone.
"This was an exciting opportunity for Waltrip," said Honore. "Students need to see themselves represented in the community, and this METRO project fosters that."
