METRO and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) have staked a friendly wager during the MLB 2022 World Series.
If the Houston Astros win the World Series championship, METRO Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran and President & CEO Tom Lambert have agreed to send a Texas pecan candy basket and Astros shirts to SEPTA for Chair Pasquale Deon Sr. and General Manager & CEO Leslie Richards to wear at the next SEPTA board meeting.
However, if the Philadelphia Phillies win, SEPTA will send TastyKakes, an iconic Philadelphia snack, and Phillies shirts for Ramabhadran and Lambert to wear at METRO's next Board meeting.
In addition to the challenge announcement, METRO also unveiled its 2022 Houston Astros World Series-themed light rail vehicle (LRV) today.
The specially designed train celebrates the Astros' history-making accomplishment of reaching the World Series for the fifth time. Its eye-catching wrap showcases the team's bold orange and white colors and its "Level Up" slogan. Baseball fans and other passengers can catch a ride on METRO's "Level Up" train on METRORail's Red Line.
