Ride to Thanksgiving Day Festivities with METRO
Expect Detours, Plan Ahead
Whether it's the Houston Turkey Trot or the annual Uptown lighting ceremony, taking transit might be the most convenient way to get to several of the city's biggest holiday events. But be sure to plan ahead. Road closures and detours will be in place throughout the day to accommodate festivities across the city. Local bus, METRORapid and light rail service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day to help get you to the following events. Please note that a federal mandate requires the use of face masks on all METRO vehicles.
BakerRipley Turkey Trot
Avoid race-day traffic and enjoy curbside service to the Baker Ripley Turkey Trot when you take METRORapid. METRO's Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center offers covered parking and a short ride to the race via the METRORapid Silver Line. Parking at the transit center is FREE.
- Take the bus from the transit center and ride three stops to Westheimer / Galleria station. Buses arrive every 12 minutes.
- Fares are $1.25 per person and are valid for up to three hours. Go cashless and purchase fares in advance with METRO's Q-Mobile Ticketing App.
72nd Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade
Let METRORail shuttle you to the 72nd Annual H-E-B Thanksgiving Day Parade in downtown Houston. The Red Line's Bell and Main Street Square stations are located just a few short blocks from the parade route. METRORail's Theater District Station is also located nearby.

33rd Annual Uptown Holiday Lighting at Post Oak
Hop on the METRORapid Silver Line at METRO's Westpark / Lower Uptown Transit Center or the Northwest Transit Center for a hassle-free ride. Parking at both transit centers is FREE.
- Northbound riders from the Westpark/Lower Uptown Transit Center should exit at Westheimer / Galleria Station to access the event. Southbound riders from the Northwest Transit Center should exit at San Felipe Station.
- Fares are $1.25 per person and valid for up to three hours. Go cashless and purchase fares in advance with METRO's Q-Mobile Ticketing App.
- METRORapid riders can expect detours along the Silver Line between Westheimer and San Felipe from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m during the lighting ceremony.
