METRO is now providing free rides to anyone traveling to or from a COVID-19 vaccination site within the METRO service area. Customers need to be prepared to present proof of their appointment or a vaccination card upon boarding. This includes local bus, METRORail, Park & Ride, METRORapid and METROLift services.
Currently those eligible to receive a vaccine are in categories 1A and 1B. This includes frontline health care workers, residents at long-term care facilities, people over the age of 65, and people over the age of 16 with a health condition that increases their risk if exposed to COVID-19. As other groups become eligible to receive the vaccine, they too will be afforded the free ride offer.
METRO is committed to providing transit-friendly options to vaccination sites to ensure everyone in our region has access to preventative measures in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
