Free Trips on I-45 HOV Lane This Summer

METRO is offering a summer program to make weekend commutes into downtown Houston a little easier.

Beginning May 4 through July 28, METRO will open the I-45 North / North Freeway High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane to inbound traffic only, on weekends. Use of the lane will be free between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. (see chart below.) No minimum number of occupants is required, but towed trailers and trucks over one-ton are prohibited from accessing the lane.

If you’ve always wanted to travel in the HOV lane, but never had an opportunity, this three-month program is designed to make summer travel quicker and more efficient. Weekend commuters can get to a Houston Astros game or see a performance in the city's renowned Theater District without having to battle congested roadways.
