DWC proudly recognizes two outstanding Texas employers for their exceptional commitment to keeping Texas workers safe and healthy. By building a safety culture that demonstrates strong leadership, employee engagement, and continuous improvement, these companies set a high standard for workplace safety across the state.
WNA, part of The Novolex organization, earned its first Lone Star Safety Award for its proactive approach to workplace safety and health. Located in Lancaster, Texas, this facility’s 123 employees manufacture plastic stadium cups used nationwide.
ACB International has renewed its Lone Star Safety Award, continuing to set the standard for safety in the chemical engineering and distribution industry. Located in Hankamer, Texas, the company’s 11 employees provide chemical manufacturing and handling services across the region.
Both companies also hold OSHA’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Award — an impressive dual recognition of their efforts to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.

The holidays bring some of the busiest — and most stressful — workdays of the year for many industries. Delivery drivers, retail workers, shipping crews, and transportation employees, among others, often face:
-
Heavier workloads and tighter schedules.
-
Increased traffic and longer hours on the road.
-
Added family, financial, and social pressures.
Fatigue, distraction, and frustration can increase the risk of workplace mistakes, accidents, and injuries. Employers can help reduce these risks by:
-
Setting realistic expectations and workloads.
-
Checking in regularly and showing appreciation.
-
Offering flexible schedules when possible.
-
Encouraging workers to take short breaks and recharge.
-
Reminding employees about wellness and employee assistance programs.
Supporting employees during the holidays isn’t just good for morale — it helps keep everyone safer, healthier, and more productive through the busy season.

The holidays bring plenty of gatherings, travel, and shared spaces — making it the perfect time to focus on good hand hygiene. National Handwashing Awareness Week, observed December 5–11, reminds everyone that clean hands help prevent the spread of illness and keep workers healthy during the busy season.
-
After touching public surfaces such as doorknobs or shopping carts.
-
Before touching their eyes, nose, or mouth.
-
After using the restroom, coughing, sneezing, or blowing their nose.
-
Before and after caring for someone who is sick.
If soap and water aren’t available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
