Spring storm preparedness: Be ready for tornadoes and floods

Spring is here, and with it comes the potential for severe weather, including tornadoes, thunderstorms, and floods. Now is the perfect time for employers and employees to review safety protocols and prepare for these seasonal challenges.

Key steps for preparedness:

  • Tornado drills. Designate shelter locations, train employees on safety procedures, and conduct regular drills to ensure everyone knows what to do during a tornado warning.
  • Flash flood safety. Stay alert during heavy rains, avoid flood-prone areas, and remember the critical rule: Turn around! Don’t drown!
  • Emergency kits. Stock shelters with essentials like water, flashlights, and first aid supplies.
