Landscaping and groundskeeping safety
Spring and summer bring the familiar sounds of weed trimmers and mowers to many neighborhoods and office parks. But for landscaping and groundskeeping workers, including many young summer employees, it also brings a variety of hazards. These tips can reduce these risks and keep lawncare workers safe.
June is National Safety Month
The National Safety Council offers both members and non-members the chance to sign up for free safety resources. This year’s highlighted areas are:
- June 1-8 – Safety engagement.
- June 9-15 – Roadway safety.
- June 16-22 – Risk reduction.
- June 23-30 – Slips, trips, and falls.
Low-Cost OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Class
This class covers OSHA general industry standards and requirements and safety awareness to help employees find and reduce job site hazards.
- In-person training and online video training.
- You must be a Texas resident or an employee currently working in Texas to register.
- The student must understand and communicate in the language of the course.
- Participants receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry card within eight weeks after course completion.
