TDI is aware of stakeholders’ inability to meet claim filing and prompt pay requirements due to the failure of a third-party service.

A physician, provider, HMO, or preferred provider carrier must send TDI a letter to request a waiver from rules if they can’t meet deadlines because of a catastrophic event.

The letter should explain the need for the waiver, including any estimated time frame for the resolution. Send the letter to TDI within five days of the beginning of the business interruption.

See TDI’s prompt pay FAQ for guidance on catastrophic event notifications.
