Respiratory Protection: Spotlight on the Oil and Gas Extraction Industry

A 2016 National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) report describes the death of nine oil and gas extraction workers at crude oil storage tanks. The sudden release of hydrocarbon gases and vapors from the tank’s hatch were primary factors in their deaths. Fatalities like these are preventable with proper respiratory protection and these tips.

DWC offers both in-person training and online video training. Those who complete the course receive an OSHA 30-Hour Construction course completion card within eight weeks.

  • You must be a Texas resident or an employee currently working in Texas to register.
  • To attend, the student must understand and communicate in the language of the course.
  • Online classes are Central time zone.
