TDI adopts mental health and substance use disorder rules

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has adopted rules related to health plan coverage of mental health conditions and substance use disorders.

The rules include a requirement for health plans to analyze parity compliance and to provide data on claims and contracts, utilization reviews, and reimbursement rates. Autism spectrum disorder coverage is also addressed in the rules to reflect that this coverage is subject to the same parity requirements as mental health conditions and substance use disorders.
