It is that time of year in Texas when severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes could wreak havoc on your business. Heavy rains, strong winds, and hail can cause flooding, power outages, and structural damage. At the same time, high temperatures cause drought, heat illnesses, and wildfires. These tips can help you and your employees prepare for dangerous weather during the summer storm season.

The National Utility Contractors Association’s second annual Trench Safety Month includes the Trench Safety Stand-Down Week. Find guided toolbox talks and registration for webinars as well as a printable poster.

OSHA’s Trenching and Excavation Safety and Health Topics page offers links to posters, QuickCards, downloadable publications, and safety videos in English and Spanish.


Lightning Safety Week

National Lightning Safety Awareness Week, June 20-26

Learn more about lightning safety. The Lightning Safety Council provides daily topics and helpful links, as well as statistics on U.S. lightning fatalities.


Low Cost Online OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Class

Low Cost Online OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Class

The OSHA 10-Hour class offers live instruction through Microsoft Teams.

This class covers OSHA general industry standards and requirements and safety awareness to help employees find and reduce job site hazards.

Participants receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry card within eight weeks after course completion.

  • June 29, 30, and July 1, 2021 in English
  • July 6, 7, and 8, 2021 in English
  • July 20, 21, and 22, 2021 in Spanish

Registration costs $30 and is required due to limited space.

OSHCON also provides:
