TDI has posted a rule proposal adopting new windstorm building codes for structures insured by the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. See the TDI website for a copy of the draft.
To submit comments about the proposed rule, send them to ChiefClerk@tdi.texas.gov by 5 p.m. December 2.
When to submit a WPI-1
If you plan to construct, repair, alter, remodel, or enlarge a structure, you must submit a WPI-1 before you begin work.
TDI should receive the form before construction begins, known as the commencement of construction (COC) date. The COC date is when you broke ground or began work on the project site.
If the date changes, you can update it in the Windstorm System. To do this:
- Enter the application.
- Click “Edit” next to the COC date.
- Change the date.
- Click “Submit Changes” to finalize.
