Workers’ Compensation in a Gig Economy panel
The Texas Division of
Workers’ Compensation (DWC) hosts a panel on challenges facing employers
and employees in the gig economy at its upcoming conferences in San Marcos (May
15-17) and Irving (June 27-29).
A highlight of the 2018 Workers’
Compensation Conference, the panel will include Brad Nail, a senior insurance
policy manager with Uber, Albert Betts, executive director of the Insurance
Council of Texas, and moderator Dan Paschal, deputy commissioner of DWC Affairs
and Strategic Planning.
“We’re going to hear
first-hand how the leading gig economy company is affecting employment,
regulation, benefits, and classification issues,” said Texas Workers’
Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan. “We’ll hear from Uber about a
workers’ compensation-like product that they are offering in Texas and other
states. It’s an incredibly timely topic.”
