According to the Alzheimer's Association 2024 State Overview,
- There are 1,016,000 family caregivers in Texas.
- More than 1 in 5 caregivers in Texas provide care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
- 70% of Texas caregivers are women.
- 9% of Texas caregivers provide care for both an adult and a child.
- 59% of Texas caregivers have chronic health conditions.

Garrison Institute on Aging
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s (TTUHSC) Garrison Institute on Aging’s (GIA) mission is to promote healthy aging through cutting-edge research and educational opportunities for students, clinicians, researchers, healthcare professionals, and members of the public. GIA provides caregiver resources and has conducted the Cochran County Community-Based Respite Pilot Program in northwest Texas. Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease
The Department of State Health Services released the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease 2024-2028 with recommended priority areas and actions regarding ADRD. Developed with stakeholder input, the state plan describes a public health approach to address ADRD and serves as a resource for stakeholders to use in determining the role and direction of their organization as part of a coordinated effort to address ADRD and ensure the health and wellbeing of Texans.

Austin Area Respite Care Funding
Funds raised through Amplify Austin are available to help offset some of the costs associated with providing respite care to caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. HFC In-Home Caregiving Funding
Hilarity for Charity (HFC) Caregiver Respite grants cover the cost of professional, in-home care so you can feel confident about the care being provided to your person while you take some time for yourself.
