The deadline for the Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) and Rural Health Clinics (RHC) Alternative Payment Methodology for COVID-19 Vaccines Survey has been extended.
This survey allows FQHCs and RHCs to opt-in to an alternative payment methodology (APM) based on an emergency State Plan Amendment approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the COVID-19 vaccine administration.
- This APM allows for COVID-19 vaccine administration to be reimbursed outside of the prospective payment system (PPS) encounter rate when COVID-19 vaccine administration was the only service provided on a given date during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
- Facilities must submit their agreement to the APM based on requirements in the Medicaid State Plan.
- No reprocessing of claims or changes in reimbursement are expected as a result of this agreement.
To opt-in to the alternative payment methodology FQHCs and RHCs must complete this online survey by 5 p.m. on October 13th, 2023.
Any providers who fail to agree to the APM by this deadline will have payments for vaccine-only visits recouped.
