Whole Community Input Opportunity PPD/8 Core Capabilities
Office of the Governor Texas sent this bulletin at 07/03/2012 09:28 AM CDTCommittee on People with Disabilities
As part of Presidential Policy Directive 8/PPD-8: National Preparedness, FEMA and its partners are responsible the development of a series of documents that describe how whole community resources come together to deliver the core capabilities necessary to reach the National Preparedness Goal. The directive asks the whole community—including businesses, community- and faith-based organizations, schools, individuals (including those with access and functional needs) and all levels of government—to work together to strengthen the resilience and security of the United States.
Your feedback was appreciated in February and March on the working drafts of the National Planning Frameworks. FEMA is now looking for your input as we draft the next set of documents, the Federal Interagency Operational Plans (FIOPs). Though these are Federal government plans, many of the resources to deliver the core capabilities come from whole community partners. That said, FEMA and its partners want to use this opportunity to collaborate with state, local, tribal and territorial governments for ideas. We are once again hosting a series of virtual roundtables to garner more information about the resources organizations have in place to build, sustain and deliver core capabilities. The virtual roundtables will be conducted on a live online webinar, with audio through a conference call. FIOP authors will be on hand during the events to provide background information and answer questions. All input will be considered when finalizing the draft FIOPs.
