The Health and Human Services Commission Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) program will be hosting listening sessions virtually and in-person across the state this summer. These sessions are meant to gather public input on all DHHS offerings and initiatives.
Members of the public are invited to share feedback on these DHHS Programs:
- Board for Evaluation of Interpreters Certification
- Camp Sign
- Certificate of Deafness for Tuition Waiver
- Communication Services for State Agencies
- Driver Identification Visor Card
- Last Resort Communication Services
- Resource Specialist Program
- Senior Citizens Program
- Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program
- Training and Education
DHHS is especially interested in feedback from those belonging to one or more of the following groups:
- Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH)
- American Sign Language interpreters and providers
- Program contractors and vendors for individuals who are DHH
- Members of the public who are associated with or support the DHH community
What: HHSC DHHS Listening Sessions
When: June 2026 – August 2026
Where: In-person sessions in Dallas, El Paso, Harlingen, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio, with additional virtual sessions offered throughout the summer
Who: Open to the public
