The Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) invites nominations for the 2026 Lex Frieden Employment Awards. Each year, GCPD partners with the Texas Workforce Commission to promote the Lex Frieden Employment Awards and Texas HireAbility campaign, which highlights the value and contributions of workers with disabilities across Texas.
The Lex Frieden Employment Awards recognize individuals, employers, and organizations that go beyond compliance to create welcoming workplaces and expand opportunities for Texans with disabilities.
Award Categories

Employer Awards (Small, Medium, Large, or Nonprofit Employer)
Recognizing Texas employers that foster accessible, supportive, and integrated workplaces.

Entrepreneurship Award
Honoring an entrepreneur with a disability who demonstrates leadership, innovation, and business success.

Martha Arbuckle Award
Recognizing an outstanding local committee project that promotes disability integration and community engagement.

Governor’s Trophy
The committee’s highest honor, recognizing lifetime achievement in advancing opportunities for Texans with disabilities.
There is no fee to submit a nomination, and self-nominations are encouraged.
Nomination Deadline
All nominations must be submitted by July 31, 2026.
