Texas State Independent Living Council, in collaboration with the Texas Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities, Launches Statewide Survey on Disability Needs

The Texas State Independent Living Council (Texas SILC), in collaboration with the Governor’s Committee for People with Disabilities (GCPD), launched a statewide survey to better understand the priorities, barriers, and support needs of Texans with disabilities.

People with disabilities, as well as families and caregivers, are encouraged to participate to help community partners and decision-makers better align policies and resources with lived experience.

“Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share it with others. We want to hear directly from Texans with disabilities about what is working, what is missing, and what would make daily life easier and more independent,” said Patrick Sturdivant, board chair of Texas SILC.

Take the survey: The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and is open through July 15^th. It is written in plain language, designed to be accessible, and includes multiple-choice options. All responses are anonymous.

Survey results will be shared on the Texas SILC website https://txsilc.org/ and discussed in public meetings (upcoming meeting details can be found on the website). These discussions will provide additional opportunities for public input to help inform priorities.

Feedback from this survey will directly support the development of the State Plan for Independent Living, a federally required plan that guides how independent living services are coordinated and supported statewide.
