Deadline for the GCPD 2024 Poster Art Competition is Approaching!

Submit your entries now for the GCPD 2024 Poster Art Competition! The deadline for submitting artwork is June 30, 2024.

Each year in October, the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) produces a poster for Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) featuring art created by a Texas artist with a disability. The Texas posters are very popular with more than 2,100 posters distributed in 2023 to businesses and homes across the State of Texas and beyond. The winning artist receives statewide recognition raising their profile and furthering their art career. The artwork is also incorporated into the Texas HireAbility Campaign. This year's national theme is "Access to Good Jobs for All."

Learn about a few past poster art competition winners in our webinar, Art Works! Careers in the Visual Arts and People with Disabilities. You may also enjoy viewing GCPD's gallery of past NDEAM posters going back 22 years on our Poster Webpage.

Submissions from Texas artists with disabilities may be sent to GCPD@gov.texas.gov. Artists should submit a photo attachment of the original work in a high-resolution digital format. We will also accept a color photocopy or image on a CD sent by postal mail. The original artwork does not need to be submitted with the entry. Artwork in any visual media format is acceptable.

All entries must include a signed entry form, a brief statement about the artist and an explanation of how the artwork is related to the topic of employment. Submission guidelines, the entry form, and a closer look at our 2023 poster and the artist are on the GCPD website at https://gov.texas.gov/organization/disabilities/ndeam_poster.

Entries must be received by email or postmarked by June 30, 2024. There is NO FEE to submit an entry. This year's winner will be announced in September.

The poster will be on permanent display in the Office of the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities. It will also occasionally be featured in offsite exhibits or at events where the Governor's Committee may be present. The winning artist is also invited to be a featured guest at the annual Lex Frieden Employment Awards ceremony on October 29, 2024.

Send your entries to GCPD as soon as possible!
