Office of the Texas Governor, Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities

Submit Your Entry for the 2024 Disability Employment Awareness Month Poster Art Competition by June 30th.

Each year in October, the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) produces a poster for Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) featuring art created by a Texas artist with a disability. The Texas posters have become so popular that more than 2,000 posters are distributed to businesses across Texas.

Submission guidelines and the entry form are on the GCPD website. You may get acquainted with past poster art competition winners by viewing our webinar, Art Works! Careers in the Visual Arts and People with Disabilities. You may enjoy viewing GCPD's gallery of past DEAM posters going back over twenty  years on our Poster Webpage. The winning artwork is also incorporated into the Texas HireAbility Campaign. This year's national theme is "Access to Good Jobs for All."

Submissions from Texas artists with disabilities may be sent to GCPD@gov.texas.gov. Artists should submit a photo attachment of the original work in a high-resolution digital format. We will also accept a color photocopy or image on a CD sent by postal mail. The original artwork does not need to be submitted with the entry. Artwork in any visual media format is acceptable.

All entries must include a signed entry form, a brief statement about the artist and an explanation of how the artwork is related to the topic of employment as well as the national theme..

Entries must be received by email or postmarked by June 30, 2024. There is NO FEE to submit an entry. This year's winner will be announced in September.

The poster will be on permanent display in the Office of the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities. It will also occasionally be featured in offsite exhibits or at events where the Governor's Committee may be present. The winning artist is also invited to be a featured guest at the annual Lex Frieden Employment Awards ceremony on October 30, 2024 in Dallas, Texas.

Send your entries to GCPD as soon as possible!
