Sexual Assault Survivors’ Task Force

The Governor’s Sexual Assault Survivors’ Task Force (SASTF) has issued its second Biennial Report to the Texas Legislature. The report includes policy recommendations for the 88th Legislative Session and summarizes SASTF projects completed since the last biennial report – including the creation of a trauma-informed rubric, a safety planning framework, a law enforcement training review and law enforcement sexual assault response protocol, a sexual assault evidence kit pilot project, and a survivors’ rights guide.

We express our deepest gratitude to the SASTF Steering Committee, Task Force members and working group members who have invested their time and expertise in support of our ongoing mission to transform Texas’ response to sexual violence. Your invaluable contributions have and will continue to make a powerful impact on the support, care, and services survivors and their families receive across the state. Thank you for all you do  for survivors of sexual assault!

Sexual Assault Survivors Resource Directory

In addition to publishing the Biennial Report, the SASTF has created a searchable online directory containing up-to-date information about resources and services for survivors of sexual assault. This online directory will help survivors, survivor family members, and the general public locate necessary resources in their community.

Survivors' Rights Guide

The Survivors’ Rights Guide and Glossary of Terms will inform, empower, and assist survivors, providers, supporters, and the general public in understanding survivors’ rights, including terms used by the medical field and the criminal justice system (CJS) pertaining to those rights. The glossary of terms includes medical, legal, and CJS terms and acronyms that are used or referenced in discussions of survivors’ rights along with definitions of each term. The guide was created by the SASTF's Survivor‐Centered Working Group and is posted on the Office of the Governor’s website.
