We welcome Norman Kieke as Community Outreach and Information Specialist for the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities.

Kieke is a native of Austin, Texas and proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. His top accomplishments include son Eric and his family; wife Reba and grandsons Ethan and Wyatt. After a ten-year grind at a career in music post-college, Kieke's college degree evolved into a rewarding thirty-eight year career serving people with disabilities. In those thirty-eight years, Kieke served as Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy of the Capitol Area, Executive Director of Disability Assistance of the Capital Area, and as a Program Specialist for the Architectural Barriers Program with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

This career track offered a variety of opportunities: teaching at state and national events; providing day-to-day information on multiple programs and services for people with disabilities; grant writing and implementation/oversight of f successful grant programs; volunteer recruitment and management; employee hiring and management; compliance oversight for programs including ADA compliance, accessibility, employment, independent living, case management, provision of Medicaid services, adult day care; fiscal accountability; and advocacy.

Mr. Kieke looks forward to supporting the Governor's Committee through leading planning for awards and recognition programs as well as developing collaborations with disability stakeholder groups and local committees on people with disabilities. These and additional responsibilities will promote disability outreach to increase public awareness of disability issues and laws.
