Governor Abbott’s Texas Task Force On Concert Safety Releases Final Report


Governor Greg AbbottΒ today announced that theΒ Texas Task Force on Concert SafetyΒ has releasedΒ their final reportΒ which includes recommendations and strategies to ensure the safety of concertgoers in the Lone Star State. Governor Abbott launched the task force on November 10 in response to the tragedy at Astroworld Festival in Houston that killed 10 concertgoers and injured over 300. The task force is led byΒ Texas Music Office Director Brendon AnthonyΒ and consists of safety experts, law enforcement, fire fighters, state agencies, music industry leaders, and others. The task force held several meetings and one-on-one discussions to analyze concert safety and develop ways to enhance security at live music events in Texas.

Governor Greg AbbottΒ today announced theΒ Texas Music OfficeΒ (TMO) and theΒ City of Harker HeightsΒ will cohost a Music Friendly Community workshop on Thursday, April 21, at 5:30 pm. TMO Community Relations & Outreach SpecialistΒ Chip AdamsΒ will attend the workshop to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.

Wimberley to be Certified as a Music Friendly Community

On Friday, April 29, the Texas Music Office (TMO) will join City of Wimberley - and Wimberley Valley Arts & Culture - to celebrate Wimberley becoming a TMO-certified Music Friendly Community. The Music Friendly Community program seeks to foster music business-related economic development in Texas cities and communities. The community celebration featuring live music and hosted by the City of Wimberley and the Texas Music Office is scheduled for April 29, at 6 pm at Blue Hole Regional Park. TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will present the Music Friendly Community designation to Mayor Gina Fulkerson.

Record Store Day Returns April 23!


In 2022, there isΒ oneΒ Record Store Day, returning this Saturday, April 23. "We feel strongly that stores have learned and adapted in the past few years and are ready to bring back elements of a β€œtraditional” Record Store Day, bands and beer and fun and people and whatever parts of the party they like, in ways that make them, and their customers, comfortable," writes the organizers of Record Store Day. "We also feel strongly that it’s important to focus on those stores themselves, and celebrate what they do year-round, in their communities." More than 70 Texas-based record stores in cities all across the state will participate in the special day celebrating the beloved community record stores.
