City of Bryan to Be Certified As A Music Friendly Community
Please join the Texas Music Office + City of Bryan on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Grand Stafford Theater for a special night celebrating Bryan's official designation as a TMO-certified Music Friendly Community. Representatives from the TMO will join leaders and stakeholders from the Bryan music community for the formal presentation. Following the 7:30 pm certification ceremony, a free concert featuring the Mark Daniel Band and up and coming country artist, Brandon Hodde will commence at 8 pm.

Musicians! Learn about the basics of copyright law and protecting your works through registration with the U.S. Copyright Office. Attorney Gwendolyn Seale will guide the discussion with two staff members of the US Copyright Office; John Riley, Assistant General Counsel, and Holland Gormley, Public Affairs Specialist. Panelists will also address practical issues relating to collaborations and joint ownership of works, and discuss issues pertaining to beats and samples.

Grapevine Seeks Music Friendly Community Status
The City of Grapevine is "angling for a Music Friendly Community designation from the Texas Music Office. The city held the first of a series of workshops this week setting it on a path to receiving the designation, according to a news release from the city. The city’s visitor’s bureau hosted a virtual workshop on last Tuesday, which the city said was the first step towards certification," writes the Dallas Morning News.
Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the State Bar of Texas Announce First Annual Lazzari Memorial Prize
The Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the State Bar of Texas is proud to announce the first annual law student writing competition for the Lazzari Memorial Prize. The Section will award the Lazzari Memorial Prize to the best student paper on one of the announced artist advocacy topics (listed via the link below). The Lazzari Memorial Prize is a $1,000 cash prize paid to the author and publication of the winning paper in the Texas Entertainment and Sports Law Journal.
