Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities' Call for Entries for the 2021 NDEAM Poster Art Competition

Each year in October, the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) produces a poster for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) featuring art created by a Texas artist with a disability. The Texas posters have become so popular that we distribute more than 2,500 to businesses all across the state. The NDEAM poster campaign is a great opportunity for a rising artist to get statewide exposure and enhance their art career. The winning artwork is also incorporated into the Texas HireAbility Campaign #TXHireAbility. This year's national theme is "America's Recovery: Powered by Inclusion."

You may get acquainted with past poster art competition winners by viewing our webinar, Art Works! Careers in the Visual Arts and People with Disabilities

Submissions from Texas artists with disabilities can be sent to the Committee via email at GCPD@gov.texas.gov. Artists should submit a photo attachment of the original work in a high resolution digital format. We will also accept a color photocopy, or image on a CD sent by postal mail. The original artwork does not need to be submitted with the entry. Artwork in any visual media format is acceptable. All entries must be accompanied by a signed entry form and short statement about the artist. Submission Guidelines and an Entry Form are available on the GCPD's website. Entries must be received by email or postmarked by July 31, 2021; the winner will be announced in August.

The poster will be on permanent display in the Office of the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, and will be featured in offsite exhibits from time to time. The winning artist is also invited to be a featured guest at the annual Lex Frieden Employment Awards ceremony in October.

A view of the past NDEAM posters and more detailed information, please visit our NDEAM page or contact us directly. Contact information is listed on the website and below. There is NO FEE to submit an entry.

Thank you for helping us get the word out to find the perfect 2021 NDEAM artist!
