Apply Now: National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Secretary, recently announced the establishment of the National Advisory Committee on Individuals with Disabilities and Disasters (NACIDD). This council will advise the federal government on issues related to disability and disasters; in particular they are looking for applicants with subject matter expertise on: 

  • disability accessibility; 
  • disaster planning and preparedness;
  • response and recovery; and
  • a lived experience of disability.

NACIDD will provide recommendations to the Secretary of HHS about the critical needs of individuals with disabilities during a disaster. Applications will be accepted until June 12th, and up to seven voting members will be selected.
