Governor Greg Abbott Announces Both Dripping Springs + Round Rock Have Been Certified By The TMO As Music Friendly Communities
The City of Dripping Springs and the City of Round Rock were both recently certified as Music Friendly Communities by Governor Greg Abbott, TMO Director Brendon Anthony, and Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams. Texas music blues living legend Jimmie Vaughan was a surprise special guest at the Dripping Springs certification ceremony. Meanwhile, Ameripolitan music star Dale Watson headlined Round Rock's Music On Main show, which immediately followed the Round Rock Music Friendly Community certification ceremony.

SBA's SHUTTERED VENUE OPERATORS GRANT Currently Accepting Applications
The U.S. Small Business Administration's SHUTTERED VENUE OPERATORS GRANT is currently accepting applications. The grant provides emergency assistance for eligible venues affected by COVID-19 mitigation. After some tweaks to the application back end so that it could handle the large amount of applicants, the application portal is now open. The SBA and the Texas Music Office recommend eligible venues, music presenters, theatre owners, etc. apply ASAP because the funding authorized by Congress is limited, and will run out.

Assistance Information and Resources For Music Industry Professionals Affected by COVID-19
We've updated our master list of Grants, Loans, & Resources List to include the Texas Rent Relief Program, which can help renters pay rent and utility bills stretching as far back as March 13, 2020. This means applicants could potentially request assistance for up to 11 months of past due bills. Both landlords and tenants can apply for the Texas Rent Relief Program online or via phone at 1-833-9TX-RENT (1-833-989-7368). We've also provided a reminder that the Paycheck Protection Program closes on May 31, 2021. And we've provided information about the Supplemental Targeted Advance provides the smallest and hardest hit eligible businesses with a supplemental payment of $5,000 that does not have to be repaid.
