SBA Shares Preliminary Application Checklist For Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has shared its preliminary checklist for the new Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program. The SVO Grant program was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act, signed into law on December 27, 2020. The program includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by the SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance. Learn the program details, eligibility requirements, and much more!

TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will co-host the workshop via livestream to represent the TMO, answer questions, and speak about the Music Friendly Community program.

TMO Asks SBA to Accelerate Opening the Application Window for the SBA’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant

On February 25th, TMO Director Brendon Anthony wrote the U.S. Small Business Administration's Acting Administrator Tami Perriello asking the SBA to accelerate opening the application window for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant. "On behalf of the Texas Music Office and its constituents from all across the state, please take the necessary steps to open applications for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant so that the Texas music industry – and the thousands of individuals employed by the state’s small venues – may live to see another day, as the permanent closure of these venues would be immeasurable to our state’s economy and culture," Anthony wrote.

The TMO joined ComboPlate Booking, Texas Folklife, High Plains Public Radio, and more to present Texas music showcases throughout the week of the festival, spotlighting performances by more than 30 different Texas singer-songwriters.
