TCDD Releases Draft State Plan, Seeks Public Comment

The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) released their draft goals and objectives for their 2022-2026 State Plan. The plan guides TCDD's public policy work and helps determine what types of projects to fund. The draft goals and objectives are the outcome of the TCDD Listens campaign, which sought to ensure people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and other stakeholders had an opportunity to provide input on the state plan. More than 500 self-advocates, family members, service providers, and others participated in online Community Conversations over the summer, while more than 200 self-advocates and others shared their stories via a statewide survey. Input from the community was invaluable in helping identify which needs are being met and which ones aren't in the current Texas system.

TCDD is seeking public comment on the draft goals and objectives. This is an opportunity for anyone and everyone interested in disability issues in Texas to provide input on TCDD's activities and policy work for the next five years. Participants may comment on every goal and objective or just a handful. Feel free to share your ideas on how to help achieve these goals! The deadline to provide public comment is Friday, January 8th, 2021. If you need help providing your comment or if you need to provide comment in an alternate format, please contact Evan Marczynski at evan.marczynski@tcdd.texas.gov or 512-437-5442.
