Virtual Music Friendly Community Workshop Coming To Dripping Springs, Houston, and Arlington in October


On Wednesday, October 21, the TMO will co-host a virtual Music Friendly Community (MFC) Workshop with the City of Dripping Springs. On Monday, October 26, the TMO and the City of Houston will co-host a virtual MFC Workshop. And on Tuesday, October 27, the TMO will co-host a virtual MFC Workshop with the City of Arlington. TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will host the workshops via livestream to represent the TMO, answer questions, and speak about how the Music Friendly Community program provides economic development opportunities for Texas communities.

Texas State Musician Nominations Due October 15


Nominations for Texas State Musician - as well as the State Poet Laureate, and State Visual Artist (2D and 3D) - are open through October 15. Any Texas citizen can nominate a living Texas artist for the Texas Legislature's highest honor for artists. Artists will be selected for both 2021 and 2022, so nominate more than one artist to join folks like Willie Nelson, Emily GimbleLittle Joe Hernandez (pictured above accepting his honor from the Capitol Gallery), Shelley King, and more as honorees.

Submit Your Music Venue as a Production Location


The Texas Film Commission (TFC) is seeking new locations for its Locations Database, which lists filming locations – as well as cast holding locations and production basecamp set ups – as both require additional space for social distancing. Music venues that are not currently open may be able to benefit from the income that a film/TV crew could provides during shooting. The TFC maintains a free database of statewide locations that are available for use in films, television shows, commercials, music videos and digital media projects.

Assistance Information and Resources For Music Industry Professionals Affected by COVID-19


We've updated our master list of Grants, Loans, & Resources List to include the Artist Relief Grant's application extension to December 2020...and new funding for the American Guild of Musical Artists Relief Fund. The Artist Relief Grant will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19. We've also added the Harris County/City of Houston's Rental Assistance Grants for eligible tenants (which includes Artists, Musicians and Creative Workers).

Visit Waxahachie Creates Heart of a Music Friendly Community Video Series

Derek Glen Bailey, the 10th featured musician in the Visit Waxahachie Heart of a Music Friendly Community Local Music Showcase.

Every Tuesday, our Music Friendly Community liaisons in Waxahachie will promote a different local artist as a part of their Heart of a #MusicFriendlyCommunity Local Music Showcase series, which features professionally shot and recorded video taking viewers on a virtual musical tour. Each artist (including Derek Glen Bailey, pictured right) performs a song at one of the 21 hearts on the Hachie Hearts Trail. Look for video posts on the Visit Waxahachie, Texas Facebook page every Tuesday at noon, every week through December 22!
