Year in Review: 2017 Governor's Small Business Forums and Workshops

We are thrilled to share that this year's Governor's Small Business Forums and Service Provider Workshops served more than 800 businesses and built capacity of at least 1,139 small business service provider representatives throughout the state.  The Office of the Governor, along with the event host partners, presented 34 Texas small businesses with State of Texas Small Business Awards.

This concludes the Governor's Small Business Forums and Workshops series for 2017. Thank you to all of our community partners, the Texas Workforce Commission, and service providers for making this year such a momentous one for Texas small businesses.

2018 Texas Export Assistance Program

As part of the Texas Export Assistance Program, the Office of the Governor (OOG) and the State of Texas Mexico Office (STMO) will coordinate the participation of Texas small businesses in domestic and international trade shows in 2018.

Eligible small businesses may apply to receive turnkey shared booth space at no cost, as well as pre-event and on-site trade assistance from experienced staff.

2017- 2018 State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Now Available Online 

Small businesses across Texas may now apply online for 2017- 2018 State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grants. 

Funded through a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, STEP aims to increase the number of Texas small businesses exporting to foreign markets and to boost the value of U.S. exported goods and services.

Office of Small Business Assistance Conducts Statewide Startup Study

The Office of the Governor, in partnership with Thomas P. Miller and Associates, is conducting a research study to better understand the needs and barriers for startups and entrepreneurship activity in Texas.   

The survey takes less than fifteen minutes to complete, and the results will provide the Office with insight into Texas' entrepreneurial, startup, and capital landscape.
