Apply to Host Governor's Small Business Initiatives

Submit before the January 20th deadline!

We invite chambers, economic development organizations, and other service providers in every region of Texas to submit their applications to host a Governor's Small Business Initiative in 2017. 

Small business forums, workshops and grants are designed to keep the State of Texas as the premier place to start, grow and sustain small and midsized businesses. The efforts provide Texas entrepreneurs, business owners and stakeholders with tools, resources, programs, insights, networks and expertise to help them prosper.

Details and application for Governor’s Small Business Service Provider Grants will be released early 2017.

Trade Show Opportunities for Texas Small Businesses

As part of the Texas Export Assistance Program, the Office of the Governor invites Texas small businesses to participate in six export-oriented trade shows in 2017.

State-coordinated programs and events provide Texas businesses the opportunity to promote their products and services to new international markets, maximizing export capacity.

Eligible small businesses will receive free, turnkey, shared booth space, pre-event and on-site assistance from experienced staff at the following trade shows:

The State of Texas Mexico Office is inviting Texas-based companies to participate at Expo Manufactura, the leading platform for the manufacturing sector in Mexico.

Participating companies will have the opportunity to meet with decision-makers from prominent businesses in the industries represented.

Team Spotlight: Aisa Showery, Small Business Specialist

Aisa Showery joined the Office of the Governor in March 2016 and is responsible for marketing and outreach efforts for the Office of Small Business Assistance.

In this role, she works with small business initiatives, engagement campaigns, business and trade assistance, marketing and communications.

Aisa has a strong background in government, media relations and strategic communication. Her experience includes coalition work with public entities, private sector firms, taxpayer groups, the media and industry organizations.

The 2017 "Marketing for Success” Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) event will be April 5, 2017, at the J. J. Pickle Center on 10100 Burnet Rd in Austin.
