Texas GLO Posts 2024 Disasters Action Plan for Public Comment
Virtual public hearings to be held May 21 at 12:00 noon, May 22 at 6:00 p.m., and May 23 at 12:00 noon. Public comments can be submitted via email, fax, and mail, or virtually during the hearing
AUSTIN – Today the Texas General Land Office (GLO) posted the State of Texas 2024 Disasters Action Plan for $555,687,000 in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds for public comments. These funds were allocated to Texas by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for disaster recovery for areas affected by the Texas Severe Storms, Straight-line Winds, Tornadoes, and Flooding (DR-4781) and Hurricane Beryl (DR-4798), collectively known as the 2024 Disasters. Per federal requirements, the GLO will consider and respond to a summary of all public comments before the final action plan is sent to HUD. The 2024 Disasters Action Plan proposes distributing the funds through three housing programs: the Homeowner Assistance Program, the Homeowner Reimbursement Program, and the Affordable Rental Program, and one infrastructure and economic revitalization program: the Local Communities Program.
Public comments may be emailed to the GLO at cdr@recovery.texas.gov, mailed to P.O. Box 12873, Austin, TX 78711-2873, or faxed to 512-475-5150. The deadline to submit public comments on this proposed Action Plan is June 16, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. Central Time (CT). Additionally, the GLO will field public comments at three virtual public hearings on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 12:00 noon (CT), Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. (CT), and Friday, May 23, 2025 at 12:00 noon (CT).
