If you are interested in technical support at your LEA, the following workshops are available upon request.

Making TELPAS-ELPS Connections

Teachers will examine how the TELPAS measures the ELPS and use TELPAS assessment expectations to provide aligned, frequent learning opportunities for all language proficiency level students. Participants will use backwards design to identify and craft learning opportunities that support language progression in all four language domains through content based learning.

ELPS-Linguistic Instructional Alignment Guide

Teachers will engage in this hands on workshop to discover how the LIAG provides instructional guidance year round to support language development through content based language instruction. The LIAG framework and components guide teachers on the cyclical practice of identifying, aligning, and monitoring English language development. Teachers will learn to use the components to determine proficiency levels, adjust instruction, and identify best practices to promote language progression throughout the year.

Supporting EL Performance through Data Analysis

Teachers will learn how to analyze assessment data using simple methods to guide reflection for real time instructional decisions that close gaps. This session provides a hands on facilitated discovery into the types of assessments used along with functions, limitations, and potential misalignments that adversely impact instructional decisions. Teachers will also learn how to interpret data to provide data driven instruction that closes gaps and promotes student learning.
