TEA Online G/T Toolkit for Families & Advocates

In lieu of a virtual conference, the Texas Education Agency, in collaboration with Education Service Centers, is in the process of developing a robust online toolkit full of resources for families and advocates!

Fall 30 Core Hours GT Training

Fall 2025 Core Hours Training Link to Registration

Online: A 30-hour asynchronous fall series will begin on September 15 and will be open through December 1. Space is available in most courses, though they are filling up quickly!
Face-to-Face: The 30-hour in-person fall series will begin on September 11 and will conclude on December 10.

National Math Stars Announces Region 11 Finalists

This year, 52 students from Region 11 were named 2025 National Math Stars Finalists. These students were selected from over 4,500 applicants statewide! National Math Stars is a non-profit organization that provides a 10-year, no-cost program that supports mathematically gifted students with year-round mentoring, advanced math courses, family advising, summer STEM camps, and more.

We’re incredibly proud of the Region 11 districts represented this year, including Arlington ISD, Denton ISD, Keller ISD, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, Birdville ISD, Lewisville ISD, Carroll ISD, Northwest ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, Fort Worth ISD, and Ponder ISD.

The Region 11 Finalists are now in the running to be named official 2025 National Math Stars when final selections are announced in mid-August. Regardless of the outcome, making it to the finalist stage is an incredible honor and achievement!

All families who completed applications on behalf of their nominated students have now been notified of their finalist status, along with all of the district points of contact who partnered with us by nominating students this year.

Gifted students often exhibit asynchronous development—where advanced cognitive abilities coexist with challenges in executive functions like planning, impulse control, and emotional regulation. This disparity can impact their academic performance and social interactions.

The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University offers an invaluable resource: A Guide to Executive Function. This comprehensive guide explains how executive functions develop and provides practical strategies to support these skills across various age groups.

Notably, the guide includes the Activities Guide: Enhancing and Practicing Executive Function Skills with Children from Infancy to Adolescence, which offers age-appropriate activities designed to strengthen executive functions in children and adolescents.

By integrating these resources into educational practices, educators and parents can better support the unique developmental needs of gifted and 2e learners, helping them harness their strengths and reach their full potential.
