A note from Stephanie
Hello, Region 11 CTE and CCMR,
I am excited to introduce myself and send my first note to the members of this community. I am joining Education Service Center Region 11 from Fort Worth ISD and have been a long-time fan, first-time employee of the ESC Region 11 and the service it provides. I will continue the incredible work that Lisa Harrison and Chelsea Reeves have undertaken from launching events such as the CCMR Summit to implementing future-focused work such as the Regional Industry Advisory Board.
The month of September brings with it fresh beginnings. As you welcome new students and new faculty and staff, I hope you realize the importance of your work. What starts in the classroom will impact future generations, by means of preparing students for college, career, and military success, leading to a stronger society and economy. Subsequently, if you find a student filming a TikTok dance, remind them politely that you are the true influencer.
I look forward to seeing you at the events and meetings to come. Be sure to add ESC Region 11 opportunities to your calendars!
With gratitude and excitement for the month ahead,
Stephanie Tennyson

High school principals are asked to identify outstanding high school students who will be graduating between January and August of 2025 to apply for consideration for the United States Presidential Scholars Program (USPSP). One general program student applicant and one Career and Technical Education (CTE) student applicant will be accepted from each school.
For the general program, the commissioner of education will nominate ten male and ten female candidates to apply for the opportunity to be U.S. Presidential Scholars. Additionally, the commissioner of education will nominate five CTE students to apply for the honor.
Background
Established in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors graduating seniors for their outstanding scholarship, achievement and promise of future success. In 2015, the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in CTE fields. Seniors chosen as U.S. Presidential Scholars are selected by the Commission on Presidential Scholars and will be presented with a medallion at a ceremony in their honor, where they will engage in conversations and events related to issues that concern America and the world.
Application due date: October 4, 2024
