Position Title:  Network and Service Desk Specialist

Description

Seeking Network and Service Desk Specialist to perform support functions for the Service Desk and the Network Services teams in the Information Systems Division reporting to the Helpdesk/Workstation Support Team Lead.  Network support functions involve assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of local area networks and Internet or intranet systems. Works under general supervision of the Helpdesk Team Lead with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  Performs customer service through service desk operations, including remote and desk-side support, as well as telecom and mobility device support. 

 

Essential Functions includes, but is not limited to

Network Services:

  • Confers with network team staff on how to solve system problems. Monitors network systems and communicates findings with other team members to obtain clarification of problems and to identify solutions or corrective actions.
  • Assists with the administration, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network and Unified Communications infrastructure.
  • Assists in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of network resources and in maintaining network support software.
  • Maintains a positive business relationship between ERS and vendors.
  • Coordinates activities with vendors and internal staff for timely implementation of hardware and software maintenance, communication lines/circuits, and network cabling, with minimal impact to agency operations.
  • Consults with end-users to gather information in order to determine requirements for implementation of Unified Communication and network technologies.

Service Desk Services:

  • Participates in service desk phone duties.
  • Responds to requests for technical support concerning the use of computer hardware and software.
  • Performs administrative tasks for ticket tracking tools.
  • Performs administrative tasks for software deployment/patch management tools.
  • May train or monitor other employees on Service Desk procedures, tasks, and hardware and software.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications:  Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems, or a related field; or attainment of a diploma from a two-year technical school with specialization in computer technology.
    • A CCNA certification may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of required college credit.
    • One year of experience over the required minimum may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) or required college credit.
  • One (1) year of experience using end-user computing and network systems in a fulltime support role, including experience analyzing system problems and implementing solutions.
  • Four (4) years’ experience administering Windows.
  • Three (3) years’ experience managing Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:  Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications:

  • Experience using ticket tracking software.
  • Experience with software deployment and patch management tools such as Dell KACE or Microsoft Systems Center Configuration Manager.

Position Title:  Survivor Benefits Analyst

Seeking Survivor Benefits Analysts to perform highly complex (journey-level) benefits administration and assistance work in Survivor Benefits while ensuring the confidentiality of member personal data. Work involves determining benefit eligibility, calculating benefit amounts and providing education for Chapter 615 and survivor benefits. The ideal candidate is naturally empathetic and a skilled communicator.

 

Essential Functions includes, but is not limited to

  • Efficiently answers questions, educates, and counsels members, retirees and beneficiaries in person or over the telephone regarding Chapter 615 and survivor benefits. This involves researching and analyzing laws and rules, policies and procedures, benefit calculations, eligibility requirements, etc.
  • Performs research and analysis to interpret and apply laws and rules, policies and procedures in determining benefit calculations, eligibility requirements, etc.
  • Determines heirship and eligibility for survivor benefits as well as calculates benefit amounts. This can include analyzing historical documents, including beneficiary designations, researching deaths through various external channels and creating benefit packets to beneficiaries.
  • Processes reported deaths and various incoming documents through a worklist or other assignment means. This includes, but is not limited to, Guardianship, Letters of Testamentary, survivor benefit claim forms and Death Certificates.

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent, plus 60 semester hours of college credit. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • Three (3) of benefits or customer service experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience applying and explaining complex laws, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Two (2) years of experience performing analytical work and applying analytical procedures. Analytical work could include, but not limited to: Analyzing claims for compliance before payment (health, insurance, etc.); reviewing available benefits and determining if someone is qualified based on rules, laws, procedures, processes, etc. and/or performing quality assurance functions.
  • One (1) experience drafting correspondence explaining complex pension and/or insurance benefits or some other complex process or benefit.

Preferred Qualifications:  Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college/university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft or other automated payroll or benefits delivery system.
  • Experience in administering employee benefit plans.
