December 31 deadline for TexFlex claims

Don’t forget that December 31, 2011 is the last day to submit TexFlex claims for Plan Year 2011 accounts (September 1, 2010 through November 15, 2011).

This deadline doesn’t affect any funds you may have in a TexFlex account for Plan Year 2012. For more information, see the TexFlex page on the ERS website or call PayFlex (the company that administers the TexFlex program) at (866) 353-9839 toll-free.

Dependent Eligibility Audit completed

ERS has a fiduciary responsibility to manage health care costs and control fraud. Ineligible dependents increase the cost of health care to the State; therefore, removing ineligible dependents from the Texas Employees Group Benefits Program (GBP) saves the state money in contributions and claims costs. Check retirement eligibility online

It's easy to determine when you will be eligible to retire by going to the Retirement Eligibility page on the ERS website. The page shows how service and age requirements establish eligibility for an ERS retirement benefit. Just answer a few questions and the system displays your retirement options. The page doesn't use personal account information.

Purchasing service credit is easy

If you want to purchase service credit, just go to the Service Purchase Request page. The page will guide you through the process and ask you questions. You can get an estimate of the cost of:

•   Waiting period service;

•   Withdrawn/refunded service;

•   Additional Service Credit; or

•   Military Service Credit.
