Essential Functions
Listed below are included, but not limited to
the following:
Infrastructure, Images, Applications and Security
-
Responsible for design,
configuration, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of VMware Horizon VDI workstation environment
-
Responsible for design, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardened Microsoft desktop operating system
core and descendent images, desktop
enhancement, stability, optimization, security, patching and group
policies
-
Manage and support firmware
updates and application packaging,
deployments and release control
in support of major application version changes and other software
support and upgrades in an
Enterprise environment using ERS toolsets, such as KACE, Dell Image Direct and Windows Deployment Services
- Ensure
that Desktop Patch Management is effective and engineered optimally
- Develop
workstation/laptop hardware device standards
- Responsible for maintenance and management of Service Desk supported servers
- May
assist with Mobility
solutions and engineering with other IS personnel
Support
- Partner with, support and take input from the Service Desk to ensure the engineered
solutions support an optimal overall
desktop user experience, meeting customer needs and requirements

Ensure that Active Directory,
DNS and DHCP services are configured to optimally support desktop
systems, including planning and managing capacity, security, and reliability of the interactions with desktop infrastructure
- Design, write, test, implement, and maintain scripts as
needed to support desktop job duties

Engages vendors in issue escalation and resolution when
appropriate
Training & Documentation
- Researches, assesses and evaluates new and developing
technologies to determine suitability for current and future agency enterprise
computing needs
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices,
technologies, architectures and emerging technologies as related to desktop
services

Develop and manage best practices and all other necessary
documentation including system standards and operating procedures
General
- Complies
with all applicable agency policies, including safety and standards of conduct
- Attends
work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
- Performs
on-call or scheduled after hours work as required
Required Minimum Qualifications
Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:
- Graduation from an
accredited four-year college or university with major course work in data
processing, computer science, computer information systems, management
information systems or a related field.
Years of experience can substitute for a degree on a year-by-year basis.
- Five (5) years’ experience
in desktop engineering and support for a mid-sized to large organization
managing current Windows desktop operating systems and enterprise technologies
including Group Policy, Bitlocker and Powershell.
- Five (5) years’ experience
in developing Windows images and application packages using traditional and
virtualization packaging technologies.
- Five (5) years’ experience
with Microsoft Office and other enterprise applications, including ownership,
support and management.
Preferred Qualifications
Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications:
5. Expert level of knowledge
and administration of Active Directory, Group Policy, Powershell scripting,
Windows registry, file system security and password management.
6. Strong understanding of
enterprise antivirus solutions, endpoint data protection and encryption, VPN,
Wireless Access, printers, VOiP, & peripherals.
7. Experience with security, monitoring
and backup of a VMWare VDI environment
8. ITIL knowledge and application
of the framework.
9. Excellent communication
skills with ability to independently organize work and complete support
documentation.
10. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
(MCSE) or SCCM certifications.
11. VMware Certified Professional 7 –
Desktop and Mobility (VCPX-DTM) certification.
Other Information
Work
is performed in an office environment. Shift
work between 7 AM – 6 PM may be required to ensure on-site coverage during
these times. Remote work may be
required. This position may require
access to privileged, confidential or sensitive data. ERS will conduct either a TXDPS or FBI
