Urgent Alert for Filing License Applications

Urgent Alert for Filing License Applications

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is preparing to release the new eLICENSING system, a self-service hub that will allow motor vehicle industry licenses to apply for, renew, and amend licenses online. Licensees will also be able to check the status of their applications and submit payment through eLICENSING.

In order to prepare for this release, the licensing payment system will be shut down beginning February 17, 2017. TxDMV and/or the Comptroller will not be able to accept payment between February 17, 2017 and the launch of eLICENSING in early March.

All individuals filing license applications should ensure that the application is received by TxDMV by close of business Thursday, February 16, 2017. Applications can be faxed to 512-465-4190 and must include a completed Payment by Credit Card form. Applications received after this date will be returned and the applicant will need to reapply using the eLICENSING system once it is released.

We understand that this may be an inconvenience, but are excited to move closer to offering this first of its kind system to Texas motor vehicle and salvage dealers as well as other industry licensees.

Sincerely,

Daniel Avitia, Director

Motor Vehicle Division
