CPS and CPI Recent Policy Updates

DFPS’s Child Protective Services (CPS) and Child Protective Investigations (CPI) programs updated their shared policy handbook recently. The changes address the following topics: 

  • Actions that are not considered to be neglect.
  • Release of school investigation reports.
  • Assessment of caregivers.
  • Situations in which a caseworker must request a child’s birth certificate and provide it to the attorney representing DFPS.
